A software company in OC that is developing a custom ERP system for a client needs a senior technical writer to help develop system and end user documentation.

The developers have been writing the system doc as they go, but after several intense agile sprints they are falling behind. They want to bring in a writer to handle the database system documentation backlog, recommend what type of end-user documentation they need, and then create it.

o. The first step of this project will be to identify what they have, find out what they want (for both the system doc and the end user doc), then create a plan on how to get there (including what the developers will do, what you will do, what they can they maintain after you leave, etc.)

o. Part of the project will probably include recommending a style guide, a controlled vocabulary list, the format for the end user doc (HTML pages? Printed job aids?, etc.)

o. The owner of the company guesstimates the project will take about two months. You’ll have to confirm that once you have identified the project scope and deliverables.

o. Experience going into a project like this, figuring out what they have, what they want, and creating a plan on how to get there (Required)

o. Experience writing system and end-user documentation for database systems (Required)

o. Experience speaking and working with database developers in their native habitat (Required)

o. Experience with Agile is a plus

o. Experience with Asana is a major plus

o. A degree in computer science or a similar field is a major plus

o. Work will be a mix of on-site and off-site, so local candidates only

o. We don’t have a published bill rate for the project, so be prepared to tell us your 1099 bill rate in the phone screen.

o. To be considered, mail your resume or questions to tw1134@ProspringStaffing.com
